The American Council for Drug Education is a substance abuse prevention and education agency that develops programs and materials based on the most current scientific research on drug use and its impact on society.

American Society of Addiction Medicine
The American Society of Addiction Medicine is an association of physicians dedicated to improving the treatment of alcoholism and other addictions, educating physicians and medical students, promoting research and prevention, and enlightening and informing the medical community and the public about these issues. The Society serves its members by providing opportunities for education and sharing of experiences, and by promoting the development of a body of professional knowledge and literature to enhance the quality and increase the availability of appropriate health care for people affected by the addictions.

Check Yourself is a unique resource. It's a place for older teens to think in a focused way about their relationship with drugs and alcohol, and invites them to consider whether their substance use risks turning into a problem for them.
Club drugs are being used by young adults at all-night dance parties such as "raves" or "trances," dance clubs, and bars. MDMA (Ecstasy), GHB , Rohypnol , ketamine , methamphetamine , and LSD are some of the club or party drugs gaining popularity. NIDA-supported research has shown that use of club drugs can cause serious health problems and, in some cases, even death. Used in combination with alcohol, these drugs can be even more dangerous.

Since 1991, Join Together has supported community-based efforts to advance effective alcohol and drug policy, prevention, and treatment. Join Together leads initiatives to help communities respond to the harms caused by excessive alcohol and drug use and provides free internet services supporting their efforts. In 1998, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy ( ONDCP ) launched an historic initiative to encourage kids to stay drug-free. The Campaign targets youth ages 9-18-especially the vulnerable middle-school adolescents-their parents , and other adults who influence the choices young people make.
